Did you know that an estimated 48.8 million Americans, including 16.2 million children, live in households that can't afford nutritious food on a regular basis? Did you know that you have the power to help these families from going hungry? Just by taking 5 minutes out of your day, you can make many families put food on the table. The West Chester Food Cupboard is a non-profit organization that helps get food and needs to families. Founded in 2009, they serve nearly 600 households every month, providing them with much-needed food and personal care items.

Have you ever heard of the term "food insecure"? Food insecurity is the state of being without reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, and nutritious food. Research says, kids raised in food insecure households do less well academically, behaviorally, emotionally, and physically. If you donate food to the West Chester Food Cupboard, this could help save kids from food insecure homes, and even help kids in our own school perform better on tests, homework, and in other classwork activities. A guaranteed 100%of your donation will go directly into running the West Chester Food Cupboard. It's ironic that Chester County is the wealthiest county in the state, yet 25% of the population is in poverty. Poverty is when you are extremely poor and can't afford basic necessities like shelter, food, and personal care items. This is why people should donate money, food or items to the West Chester Food Cupboard. If you can't donate food or personal care items, consider donating your time. This Thanksgiving, join the other 140 volunteers in the West Chester Food Cupboard. The West Chester Food Cupboard saves many people from food insecurity and poverty all around West Chester and you can help too!
